The jury in the most recent instance of Apple verses Samsung patent encroachment has arrived at a verdict without a moment to spare for a soothing California weekend, fining the Korean firm $119.6 million for encroaching on two of Cupertino's licenses.

"We are appreciative to the jury and the court for their administration," an Apple agent told The Register.

"Today's decision strengthens what courts as far and wide as possible have effectively discovered: that Samsung obstinately stole our plans and replicated our items. We are battling to guard the diligent work that goes into adored items like the iPhone, which our workers commit their lives to planning and conveying for our clients."

After a month-long trial, the eight-man jury found that Samsung had encroached on Apple's "speedy connections" patent and in part on its "slide to open" patent, and cleared the Koreans of two different instances of patent exceed. Therefore, while Apple needed $2.2bn in harms, it got simply $119.6m.

That is superior to a jab in the eye with a sharp, stay, however, it's still not a lot of cash in the more stupendous plan of things. As of December, Apple has said it had used over a large portion of that in legal counselors' expenses alone..... Read more
